Manufacturing Engineer

Purpose of the Role

We are currently in advanced stages of our first production run and are looking for a manufacturing engineer to lead the interface with our contract manufacturer and supply chain, help define production strategy, and provide design for manufacturing requirements to the design team for future products.

 

The role is ideal for a manufacturing engineer who is looking to develop into a production leader over the next few years as our volumes and product offering steadily increase i.e. grow with the company. This will involve working in the Bathgate office, frequent visits to our local contract manufacturer based nearby, and occasional off-site visits.

 

Key Responsibilities

CSignum are looking for a proactive manufacturing engineer to work closely with our small team of electronics, mechanical, software and other test engineers. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the interaction with our contract manufacturer and ensuing that it produces a correctly built and tested product in the required timescales.
  • Create design for manufacturing processes and attend design reviews to assess design for manufacture self-test capability.
  • Coordinate controlled data transfer and revision control.
  • Overseeing manufacturing and production processes
  • Coordinate component purchasing and manage obsolescence.
  • Creating and executing daily, weekly, monthly and annual production schedules
  • Communicating any problems or obstacles to senior management
  • Monitoring productivity rates, standards and quality control
  • Regular site visits to our contract manufacturer
  • Occasional off-site supplier visits.
  • Production assembly build and test procedures
  • Design for Six Sigma – product quality, reliability and yield
  • Product and production Design FMEA
  • Reliability and regulatory compliance
  • Product / component inspection

 

Essential Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

  • Good experience working in a formal manufacturing /production environment.
  • Capable writing production test processes.
  • Effective communicator with suppliers and manufacturers
  • BOM and supplier management.
  • Extensive experience solving production issues.
  • Production of electro-mechanical-software products.

Desirable Experience

It would be beneficial for the candidate to have experience in some or all of the following areas:

  • Production test capability.
  • Production test procedures.
  • Experience with through life support to support company strategy and implementation.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • 5 years manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Engineering degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
